About iBuild
iBuild Handover Inspections was established by husband and wife team, Nigel and Erica, in 2015. After more than 35 years in the building trade, including building their own homes, Nigel could see a real need for a more straightforward property inspection report system that streamlined the process. With her education background, Erica came on board to add clarity, plain language, and a client focus, so that iBuild inspection reports were user friendly for all stakeholders. In just five years the team has built a reputation with property developers and regular clients in South-East Queensland, where they specialise in maintaining knowledge of the very latest building regulations to help property developers and investors maximise their investment.
Meet our team
Nigel
Nigel is our principle licensed builder and building inspector. He launched his career over 35 years ago as a young tradie in Melbourne, working on large-scale commercial projects where he was awarded Apprentice of the Year. After spending several years managing large residential projects in Sydney, he moved to Brisbane where he has held professional positions as Project Manager, Site Manager, and Maintenance Manager for some of Australia's largest and most reputable residential building companies, including Mirvac, AV Jennings, Ausbuild, and Devine Homes. With strong abilities in Workplace Health & Safety and an eye for detail, he has been responsible for introducing procedures that improve proficiency - thus ensuring the highest standards of quality finishes in new homes. Nigel has built and personally handed over thousands of new homes to many happy new homeowners.
He has a great interest in the tiny home movement including urban design efficiency and affordability, and loves spending weekends at the beach in the VW van that he has converted into a home on wheels for the family.
Erica
As a tradie’s wife for over 20 years, Erica stepped into her role at iBuild with ease. After spending most of her career in human services including time working overseas, she was able to bring a range of real-world experience and skills that would be beneficial to the business. After relocating to Brisbane, Erica worked in adult vocational education and during this time completed several residential self-builds where she learnt first-hand the complexity of the build process. To facilitate her career change, she took on further studies in sustainability and business management. As the co-owner of iBuild, Erica brings energy and enthusiasm to the business. She is constantly looking at ways to innovate and ensure an awesome client experience for each of iBuild’s new homeowners.
Erica believes that the trades people whose talent and skills build our homes are essential to us all achieving the great Australian dream - owning an ideal home for our family. She hopes that iBuild’s services can assist people in reaching their home and property investment goals with peace of mind.
Tristen
Our part-time software and technology go-to guy, Tristen completed his Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering (Honours) in 2021, and has been an iBuild team member throughout his studies. Tristen’s wealth of knowledge and expertise in digital practices ensures that all our systems run smoothly and are up-to-the-minute. He makes sure that all our inspection reports are produced in appropriate formats and delivered promptly for our clients and their builders. Tristen also holds a current drone pilot licence to add value to iBuild’s inspection services. While Tristen works in the AI industry, he continues to be a part of the iBuild team sharing his technological skills, allowing us to continually improve our services. Tristen enjoys new challenges and aims to one day be involved in advanced industrial practices that make a difference to people and the planet.
Isabella
As iBuild’s part-time administration assistant, Isabella is the young, efficient, and vibrant person that every team needs. She has a great eye for detail and works in our HQ making sure that our systems are running smoothly, supporting an excellent and personalised service for our clients. Having former experience in competitive sports at a national level, Isabella understands all about hard work and dedication. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Justice with the aim of a career in judicial services.
